Effective February 29, 2024, the customs authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be implementing Pre-loading (PLACI) and Advance Cargo Information (ACI) requiring the first 6 digits of the Harmonized System (HS) Code, for shipments destined to, transiting through or exported from the UAE.
To comply with this new customs requirement, and to avoid delays in the movement of your shipments, we will be requiring the first 6 digits of the HS Code for all shipments traveling to, through, or from the UAE. As American Airlines does not operate direct flights to or from the UAE, this means that this requirement only impacts shipments traveling on one of our interline partner airlines. The HS code should be included on shipment documentation as follows:
• For Direct or Simple Shipments, in which there are no associated house air waybills, customers must provide the HS Code on the face of the air waybill paper document.
• For Consolidated Shipments, in which the shipment is associated to one or more house air waybills; customers must provide the HS Code on the Consolidation Manifest paper document.
We know there's a ton of information to digest, so we've prepared some answers to frequently asked questions.
